Gloss Finish

Glossy white BOPP makes colors and images stand out. It’s shiny and eye-catching. It’s often used for food, drinks, and other consumer goods to grab attention.

Matte Finish

Matte white BOPP is great for reading because it’s not shiny. It’s good for products with lots of details or codes. It’s used for things like asset management and pharmaceuticals.

Advantages of Film Labelstocks

Moisture-resistance
Unlike labels made with most other materials, labels created with BOPP film can be exposed to cold water or high levels of humidity without eroding. They are therefore a top choice for manufacturers whose products are frequently exposed to moisture or humidity.

Low Toxicity
BOPP’s low toxicity is a primary reason why BOPP is used with labels for food and hygiene products. BOPP emits no harmful gases and polypropylene flakes or dust is not harmful.

Variable Translucency
One of BOPP film’s greatest assets is its variable translucency. The clear option is especially popular among food packagers and manufacturers who want consumers to be able to view their products through a clear label, while white-colored BOPP is a common choice for lip balm and other hygiene products.

Resistant To Solvents And Acids
BOPP’s resistance to solvents and acids make it a great choice for labels – especially those applied to household products and certain foods and beverages.

Impressive Durability
Durability is the cornerstone of longevity for a printed label. BOPP is known for its strength and ability to endure significant wear and tear. Its plastic-based construction make BOPP far more durable than paper labels.

Strong Adhesive Properties
Adhesive strength is one of BOPP’s greatest assets. When customers invest in BOPP labels, they can enjoy peace of mind knowing that they have selected a label that demonstrates stellar peel adhesion properties, even with labels designed for round or curved glass bottles.

Application of Film Labelstocks

Application of Film Labelstocks

BOPP film labels are often used on products like snack bags, bottle labels, and flexible food packaging due to their resistance to oil and water.

Personal Care and Cosmetics

In the beauty industry, products often face exposure to moisture, such as in bathrooms. BOPP film labels are favoured for shampoos, conditioners, lotions, and makeup packaging because they resist water and oils, ensuring the packaging remains attractive and functional.

Pharmaceuticals

BOPP film labels are used for medicine bottles and healthcare products due to their durability and high-quality print compatibility. They ensure that important information, like dosage instructions and ingredients, stays clear and legible, which is crucial for safety.

Chemical Products

BOPP is chemical resistant, making it suitable for labelling household cleaners, industrial solvents, and agricultural chemicals. These film labels can withstand exposure to harsh substances without fading or disintegrating.

Retail and Logistics

BOPP film labels are also commonly used for barcodes and shipping labels because they are tough enough to handle abrasion, moisture, and varying temperatures during shipping and handling.

Printing Techniques

Flexography: This is a versatile printing technique especially suited for large runs. Flexography uses fast-drying inks, which are ideal for the non-porous surface of BOPP. This method is cost-effective for creating high volumes of labels with consistent quality.

Digital Printing: It is perfect for short runs and variable data printing. Digital printing on BOPP is highly adaptable, allowing for quick setup and turnaround times. It’s ideal for customised label designs or limited edition products where detail and colour accuracy are paramount.

Production Process

01/

Material Selection
The first step in making film labels is choosing the right materials. Biaxially Oriented Polypropylene (BOPP) film is our go - to material. It's a thermoplastic polymer that offers great chemical resistance, high tensile strength, and is lightweight.

02/

Printing
Once we have the BOPP film, it's time for printing. There are several printing methods we can use, but the most common ones for BOPP film labels are flexographic printing and digital printing.

03/

Coating
After printing, we apply a coating to the printed BOPP film. For example, UV coatings and water-based coatings. They offer excellent scratch resistance and a high - gloss finish.

04/

Die - cutting
Once the coating is dry, we move on to die - cutting. Die - cutting is the process of cutting the BOPP film into the desired shape and size of the label.

05/

Laminating (Optional)
In some cases, we may choose to laminate the BOPP film labels. This provides an extra layer of protection against moisture, chemicals, and UV rays.

06/

Applying the Adhesive
The next step is applying the adhesive to the back of the BOPP film. There are different types of adhesives we can use, depending on the application of the label.

07/

Quality Control
Before the Adhesive BOPP film labels are packed and shipped, we conduct a thorough quality control check. We inspect the labels for any printing defects, such as smudges, color discrepancies, or missing elements.

08/

Packaging and Shipping
Once the film labels have passed quality control, we package them for shipping. We use appropriate packaging materials to protect the labels during transit.

FAQ

Q: Can Film labels be recycled?

A: Yes, BOPP is recyclable, and its durability reduces the need for frequent replacements, contributing to less waste.

Q: What is the difference between paper label and film label?

A: Paper Labels: Suitable for dry, indoor environments but prone to tearing and damage when exposed to moisture or rough handling. Filmic Labels: Highly durable, making them ideal for products exposed to water, chemicals, or extreme temperatures.

Q: Can film labels be removed easily?

A: BOPP film labels come in both permanent and removable adhesive options. If you need a label that sticks firmly and doesn’t come off, the permanent adhesive is a good choice. If you need a label that can be taken off easily without leaving a residue, the removable adhesive is the better option.

Q: What is a film label?

A: Film labels are made from films, which offer a higher resistance and durability than paper. Paper, on the other hand, offers a better ink adhesion than film. However, the corona treatment can be used to improve the adhesion of film. Film labels are more expensive than paper labels.

Q: Can you write on Bopp labels?

A: Yes, you can write on BOPP labels, particularly those with a matte finish, using a permanent marker, but other writing tools like a pen or pencil may also work depending on the finish. For a gloss finish, you should use a permanent marker, and you must allow the ink to dry completely to avoid smudging. Matte BOPP is the best option for hand-written variable information like dates or flavors.

Q: What role does the release liner play in film labels?

A: The release liner protects the adhesive until application. It provides stability during printing, die-cutting, and dispensing. Common materials include glassine paper, BOPP film, and super-calendered kraft paper.
